Scientific expeditions for Komarnica
One of the most important activities in our fight is collecting scientific data about the biodiversity values of the Komarnica Canyon. We invited scientists from Europe to join us. Look who answered our call and what have we accomplished so far:
Registrations for the next Taxon expedition in Komarnica are open. The dates: 7 – 15 July 2025.
A five-day scientific-research camp in Komarnica brought together 30 male and female students from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. In the company of eight mentors, these young researchers had the opportunity to experience the charms of field research, learning about various groups of flora and fauna, research methodologies, and to practically apply everything they learned about in faculty of biology, while at the same time contributing to data collection and effective protection of Komarnica.

E03 Taxon Expedition 2024
This expedition gathered more than 25 scientists and nature enthusiasts who have in 9 days focused on researching the most vulnerable fauna in the canyon, such as cave, or river fauna.

European Biodiversity Survey, an initiative aiming to improve knowledge about biodiversity and endangered sites ecross Europe, has visited and researched Komarnica for the second time!
In merely 8 days during June and July, the group of European scientists have visited the canyon, registered more than 580 species, and found clear evidence of the value of this valley for nature protection on European level!
